Apologetics, You're Doing It Wrong

  1. How? The Bible calls us to question and critically think, 1 Thess 5:21 - "But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;"

Whole passage, "12But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction,13and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another.14We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.15See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.16Rejoice always;17pray without ceasing;18in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.19Do not quench the Spirit;20do not despise prophetic utterances.21But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;22abstain from every form of evil."

One who makes up a religion would not tell people to do this, sorry but no way can Jesus Christ/YHWH have been made up, there's no way, Paul AT LEAST believed he saw miracles, Paul by The Holy Spirit INVENTED science with that verse.

The Bible encourages critical thinking, no way can it be fake, The Bible has YHWH saying that they have no excuse, why? Not because they're supposed to have a presupposition that He exist, but because He has made it clear with facts, Romans 1:20.

something made up would not ask to be examined, simply because they know they are lying and getting examined would expose a falsehood, The Bible having it asked to examine all things means it has to be true, if it was made up, they would advise The Opposite, do not doubt the facts, that is foolish.

    1. Ok I have critically questioned and searched for the evidence for a god. I found that god..... it is Allah. Disprove my claim? You cant.

Its ridiculous that you can assert the bible is correct with no proof of a god who inspired it. :)

  2. That's interesting, Rafael. Buddhism also asks you to examine it to find out the truth in it. By your logic, it can't be made up then. Yet, according to Buddhism, God would rank as an unenlightened being whom the Buddha surpassed!

You are interpreting that verse incorrectly. It is not asking you to examine the background story. It is asking you to reflect upon what is right and what is wrong, and then act accordingly. The very context you quoted makes that clear. That verse has zero to do with science.

    1. Hummmm....should I have faith I'm doing it right or wrong? If the Bible encourages "critical thinking" and I think it's a lot of ancient fiction then I MUST be doing it right! Right?

    2. TWF, "buddha" rejected God's existence,

      http://newbuddhist.com/discussion/6008/the-buddha-explicitly-rejected-god-proof

This doesn't apply to buddhism, why? because buddha didn't believe God, he was an atheist, he's making no claim. he was just a skeptic who taught nonsense, like eating feces or that life is suffering. he didn't claim to know anything, and most of the miracles were written after Jesus Christ, http://www.jesusbelievesinevolution.com/buddha_and_christ.html

While Jesus Christ, and His Apostle Paul said that YHWH(The Father and The Son and The Holy Spirit) is The Truth, so when Paul says to not doubt THEN goes on to say question things, it's basically saying, "This is the truth, if you don't believe it, investigate properly, you'll see"

Someone who makes something up, a falsehood cannot back up their falsehood(hence why it's false and not true), and thus will not damage their intents by having people investigate, if this is true, then even if investigated it can't be refuted, this is true in every area of Science, Logic, History, Morality and Philosophy.

      Paul didn't make up anything.

      Anna Maria,

" If the Bible encourages "critical thinking" and I think it's a lot of ancient fiction then I MUST be doing it right! Right?"

If you think it's fiction then #1, you'll need to prove it is, otherwise it's not based on proof or critical thinking.

2, If you think it's a myth despite irrefutable Science and History which supports it, Then you aren't critically thinking.

  3. Rafael, if you continue to ignore the context, you will constantly subject to error.

    1. I've come to the conclusion Rafael will continue to irrationally refute what anyone else thinks but him so I will no longer be responding to his ridiculous "critical thinking." It's not his intent to debate...he has no perception except his own narrow minded radical view. Addiction to the Bible and Koran tends to do that.

    2. Could be, Anna. I think he is a smart guy, but his passions are getting the best of him right now. I hope little more maturing can help enlighten him. I will not debate him further here, though, in consideration of the factors you mention.

    3. How? Read the context,

      1 Thessalonians 5:21 - Lexicon, http://biblelexicon.org/1_thessalonians/5-21.htm

Test/Examine panta things, what's Panta? ALL.

""Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (I John 4:1)

      Bible Created Science.

" I think he is a smart guy, but his passions are getting the best of him right now."

What passions? how do you know what runs in my mind? please don't assume.

"I hope little more maturing can help enlighten him."

      How was I immature?
