When Christians Tell Me How Nuts Scientology Is

  1. It's one thing that fascinates me about religion - how people can be rational when it comes to other religions, but somehow ignore their own logic and reason when it comes to their religion. It's very strange.

    1. Actually, it is because we live in partitioned brains.
We are blind to our own countries -- seeing faults in others more easily.
Likewise with our own sex, our own hobbies, our own personality types. Religion is no exception -- so it shouldn't be surprizing, I'd think.

    2. "Partitioned brains" reminds me of bicameralism, which is actually an old theory as to how religion got started. Early humans supposedly had more divided brains that seemed to talk to each other and one could be interpreted as God.

  2. LOL, I can't agree more.
I use to be a Univ. prof and made huge friends with the Mormon community when I defended them in front of Christians by saying to the self-righteous Christians: "Mormonism is no more crazy than your beliefs." They took that as a deep compliment. In fact, I guess it was.
